"El Miedo a la Libertad": Tanghetto's new album

The argentine band released their new album, with 12 songs. The new release includes songs such as "Buscando Camorra" (where a skill in the traditional tango language is shown by the band), the fusion between tango and bossa nova in "Media Persona", etc. The cover versions picked for this album are "Englishman in New York" (Sting), "Sweet Dreams (are made of this)" (Eurhythmics), "Cantaloupe Island" (a jazz standard written by Herbie Hancock in 1964).

The album title and its underlying concept are inspired in the essay of the same name ("Fear of Freedom") by the great german psychologist Erich Fromm. The idea behind the album is the notion that we are all afraid of excercising the power of making choices. We tend to leave to someone else's will the direction of our lives. Thus, in our every day existence we're limited to the few options that are given to us. We do not actually choose what we eat, what we read, what we listen to, not even our governments. In our history, this "fear to freedom", this fear to have options, created tragical political experiences that led to the nazi or fascist regimes in the 30s. Even today, we face the consequences of our collective fears, such as certain totalitarian powers, disguised as democracies.

The album includes also performances from guest musicians: the guitar player Esteban Morgado, the violinist Quique Condomí, etc.

Final comment on the mexican tour

30 days, 19 cities, 19 concerts in theatres, public squares, open venues, festivals, for circa 40.000 people, all the CDs sold out in the 4th concert, thousands of miles flown, and kilometers drove. That's what the mexican tour of Tanghetto was about.

Mexican tour report and Festival Internacional Cervantino XXXV. Success!

The mexican tour is an absolute success!! Each gig (so far thirteen) was amazing and the crowd showed an increíble enthusiasm for the band and its music. In every city, there was people queuing for a pic and an autograph after the gig.

So far, an estimate of 28.000 people asisted to Tanghetto's concerts in the country.

Many people already knew the band's music and some of them enthusiastically asked for songs to be played, such as Inmigrante, Alexanderplatz Tango or El Boulevard.

Great mexican tour in October!

This is the final list for the gigs in Mexico. The band will play in the huge Festival Internacional Cervantino in Guanajuato and Leon (Guanajuato State) and will intensively tour the country. 19 gigs in 19 cities in 11 states.
